BEKRAF SOCIALIZED ABOUT NATIONAL CMO IN INDONESIA
Bekraf, Jakarta – Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (Bekraf) along with the Deputy of IP and Regulation collaborated with NCMO (National Collective Management Organization) to socialize the presence of NCMO in Indonesia. Among its duties, NCMO has to manage royalty for songs and/or music, as mandated in Article 89 regulation number 28 of 2014 about Copyright (Copyright Law). NCMO must also determine certain requirements such as the amount of royalty, which then approved by the Minister.
In this socialization, Bekraf invited copyright and related right users. The users who attended were APERKI, PHRI, the owners of Television, Radio and Fitness Center, Airline companies, and others. The objective of the socialization was to create thorough understanding related to royalty collection system in Indonesia, as well as a place for everyone to get to know each other. In accordance with Article 87 regulation number 28 of 2014 about Copyright (Copyright Law) which emphasized that every Composer, Singer, Musician, Performers, Producers of Phonograms and other related rights owners must be a member of a Collective Management Organization (CMO) so they can receive the economic rights of their work, including royalty. In other words, CMO is the rightful organization to collect from the users of Copyright and Related right.

Copyright CMOs are Karya Musik Indonesia (KCI), Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI) and Royalti Anugrah Indonesia (RAI), while the Related rights CMOs are PAPPRI, Sentra Lisensi Musik Indonesia (SELMI), and Anugrah Royalti Dangdut Indonesia (ARDI). The socialization about NCMO itself was implemented by Bekraf in order to create a conducive ecosystem for music. The creative economic performers will not only receive their economic rights, but also other rights in accordance with the applicable regulations from the cooperation between NCMO, CMOs and Copyright.
